ALEX’S LEMONADE STAND FOUNDATION
TO VISIT SACRAMENTO, CA

In an effort to join the battle against childhood cancer, Thetwilightbus.com, Barnes and Noble Book Store and UA Arden Fair Theater Sacramento, will host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 12-4 PM at 1721 Arden Way Sacramento, CA. We will be out Promoting Summit Entertainment's New Moon, Sequel to Twilight. TheTwilightBus.com is finding a way to give back. The twilight bus started as a small project of a Mom of 10 kids, many with special needs. Knowing the struggles of being a parent of a child who battles a life threatening condition, bus Owner Danielle Silva and her kids wanted to find a way to help other parents in similar situations. What better way to help another parent then to help find a cure for the disease. Many Business in the community helped to give the retired old school bus a new look and a new lease on life. So now we want to give back too. Let's help give kids fighting cancer their New lease on life.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). At the age of 4, Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of volunteers across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $25 million towards fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 100 research projects nationally.

Keeping things running... Clarification and Shirts

Ok I really enjoy taking the bus places so everyone can see it and I think you will agree that (especially if you have seen us) the bus is a sight to be seen. I feel the need to tell you, to an extent, the going ons of a few things.

First and for most, all money up to this point that has been spent on the bus has been from my own pocket. All $6900 (approx) has come from our family. This does not include the gas I use in the bus.

I am trying to get to a few of the twilight conventions so more people can see the bus and enjoy all the things in and on it also. But that too comes out of pocket.

We are not rich, actually far from it and the time has come that if I want to continue to take the bus places for others, I need to figure out how to fund said events.

Someone has felt the need to constantly negativly post about my selling t-shirts (hense Comment moderation now being turned on).

I have gotten these shirts to help cover some of the costs of maintaing the bus. For example Engine work (it is a 1989 school bus after all) and new window when someone shot it out a few weeks ago etc.

No I did not buy these shirts @$20 to sell for $20 that would make absolutely no business sense.

Correct?

So yes I am selling the shirts I bought in a VERY large quantity for more than I paid for them but still less than retail and even less than many people are selling them on ebay.

Seems good to me as many people cannot even find these shirts anymore and I was able to take out a loan to be able to get them and help others get great shirts while I maintain the bus.

Win win in my book.

If you do not agree then that is fine and this "someone" can go buy their shirts elsewhere.

NOTE to Anonymous: at least have the cahones to list yourself a name since your IP address and info is already recorded each time you post. Have a great day Anon and find a hobby you must have such a boring life to do nothing but sit on my site and bash me. :)

NEARLY finished bus...

I totally forgot to post pics of the NEARLY finished bus. Some things need to be redone but in the meantime...

A little laugh and FANS!!

OK I had to Tweet (we are on twitter) about the fact that we were laughing and contemplating taking pictures of the people literally hanging out their car windows on the freeway trying to take pictures of the bus!!

We went to Arden Fair Mall today and ran into fans of our own! More and more often we come out of a store to find people surrounding the bus and we are constantly having people snapping pictures. Well I decided we are going to take pics of some of the bus fans and post them here and perhaps have a section inside the bus to put fan photos. So here is our first official fan photo.

First Glimpse...

Well after many problems... Here is a sneak peak at the bus so far.. It should be completed by Friday and our story should be in the paper tomorrow!!

OMG CARLISLE!!!

OMG I have the Peter Facinelli app on my iphone and today while in chat he came on!

I took a shot and asked him for an autographed picture of him as Carlisle for the bus.

HE SAID YES!!!!!!!

He took our address and now we are watching the mail for a photo made out to the Silva Bus!!

I am super excited can't you tell?!

Peter is awesome. He is super nice and he actually talked to me!

I almost died!

For those that don't know I would choose Carlisle over Edward anyday! I know I like the older men! Haha wow I guess Carlisle is REALLY older!

The bus was supposed to be done by today but now it should be done by tomorrow.

It is a frustrating process.

Why A Twilight Bus??

OK so more people are asking why we would make a Twilight bus so I thought I would answer here.
First off we have 10 kids, a few who are special needs and medically fragile. We came across a small school bus for sale and it fit us all and the medical equipment and our strollers in it so we bought it.
I know it is embarrassing to be seen driving around in a "short bus" at least for my older kids so we thought of a way to make it less of an embarrassment and more fun to be seen in.
Me and most of my kids are HUGE Twilight fans so we decided to make it into a fan based sort of Mobile museum. The bus is our main mode of transportation so it is driven EVERYWHERE! We painted it black , With the help of a Local body Shop (Larrie Cain's Collision Center) and we got a sign guy (ICR signs) to make all the vinyl for it. We paid for materials and the companies donated their time.
Inside we are collecting Twilight memorabilia of all kinds to put on display. The only music that plays is the Twilight soundtrack of which we know all the words (even my 17 month old knows how to "sing" along).
We are teaming with Twifans.com to get some more things for inside the bus. So far we have 3 posters, a photo and a copy of the Twilight script (complete with facsimile signatures from Ebay!)

We have been stopped by people all over wanting to take a picture and it is not even done yet! This Tuesday the bus goes in to get it vinyl on it. We will be featured in the local newspaper on Thursday. We are so excited!

I am trying and hoping to maybe contact some of the actors from the movies to get some special things for the inside.
We do not charge anyone for anything, everyone who wants to can come see it take pictures ect. We are just trying to make a positive out of a negative and to bring positive attention to our family in a fun way.
